Helping international students Thrive

Mental wellbeing digital tools and support to help students thrive at university life.

At Student Parachute, we know that an international student’s mental health and wellbeing, safety and social connections all contribute to a positive university experience and graduate outcomes.

We’ve partnered with Thrive Therapeutic Software to give every Student Parachute member direct access to the Thrive Wellbeing App.

Thrive App

A digital-first student wellbeing solution.

Thrive is a world-class, evidence-based app designed for the prevention, early detection and self-management of common mental health conditions.

Developed in the United Kingdom by leading Clinical Psychologists, Thrive uses easy-to-learn, clinically-proven techniques to help students enjoy a happier, more relaxed and stress-free study experience.

Thrive has helped millions of users worldwide.

The app incorporates techniques that have been practised in hospitals and clinics for years, but in a fun, game-like format and supported by a range of tools to improve mental wellbeing.

Helping students stay on top of life and study

Thrive works well as a day-to-day lifestyle and mental health resilience app, with the capability to support and intervene if it detects risks of certain conditions.

Student support mechanisms in one, intuitive application:

  • Relaxation techniques such as meditation, thought training, sleep improvement and goal progress tracking.
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) methods to help students to manage specific stressors and retrain unhelpful thoughts.
  • Chat with Thrive coaches, a team of graduate psychologists who provide an in-app text-based mental health support service.

Building student resilience

Students can track their moods and feelings with Thrive’s daily checkup session, resilience quiz and mood tracker. Validated assessments screen for levels of depression and anxiety to help students access the support they need, at the relevant time.

These assessments and trackers are all completely confidential. By exploring them regularly, students can start to understand trends and triggers, which they learn from to build greater resilience to the stresses of international study.

CBT programme

Thrive uses the latest computerised Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) methods to help manage specific stressors and retrain unhelpful thoughts. CBT is the most effective training for the prevention of common conditions.

Every Thrive tool and feature has been validated by research and is continually developed by experts.

In app chat

International students can speak to one of Thrive’s clinically-trained wellbeing coaches at the touch of a button.

Thrive therapists are all graduate psychologists who provide an in-app text-based service to guide students through their own self-management programme.

The service is available overnight in Australia from Monday to Friday, 5pm to 5am (AEST).
